Contemporary Floating House in South Korea

Don’t be fooled by the title, this house isn’t actually floating. It might give you this impression because of the large amount of open space underneath, but that’s all. This residence was designed by Hyunjoon Yoo Architects and is located in South Korea. It’s a residence is better suited for an older couple that enjoys spending time outside and exploring the surroundings.

As the architects let us know, the idea for this project was to create “space within space”. So the location of all the rooms in the house is quite curious. In the middle there’s a bathroom, a kitchen and a dress room, all crowded in there. A bedroom was placed in the east, a living room in the west, and a corridor in the outskirts. The idea was to give the impression of a bigger space than it actually is. That’s probably because you get tires of walking all over the house just to get from one room to another.

Anyway, the design of the residence is simple and tasteful but more beautiful than that is the landscape and the amazing natural surroundings. It’s a great place for all types of couples and families, even though a couple in their sixties would probably appreciate it more.

The illusion of a larger space is visible in the inside as well. Everything is white, except for the furniture. It’s a modern approach, very stylish and elegant.
