Clean and creative boutique agency by StudioLAB
The MPD Office was a project developed by StudioLAB and LLC together with a design team formed of Matthew Miller and Ryan Ho. It’s located in Meat Packing District, New York City, NY, USA and it covers a total project area of 3.000 sq ft. The construction was completed in 2011. the office was designed for an agency in the Meat Packing District of NYC.
The original structure the architects had to work with included several cubicle walls that did nothing but cut up the space and create a fractioned volume. The wall had to be demolished in order to create an open plan with a loft-like structure. Now the architects were free to design the space in any way they wanted.
As a result, they used simple frameless glass structures to divide the spaces and to create staff offices. This allowed natural light to get in and the result was a bright and inviting space. The floors were also painted white in order to maximize the effect. Then custom stainless steel framed desks were added together with a high gloss lacquered reception desk.
This contributed to the final modern décor the team was aiming at.The clean lines, the simplicity of the architectural details that are almost inexistent and the bright interior décor also helped achieve a modern design. Minimalism is what they wanted to achieve and they made it.{found on archdaily}
