Classical studio apartment in Latvia with a modern twist

Located in Riga, the capital city of Latvia, this beautiful studio apartment features a stylish interior that harmoniously blends classical and modern features. The interior of the apartment was designed by Eric Carlson of A DIZAINS and it’s a beautiful example of how a small space can look luxurious when all the right details come together. The newly redesigned apartment was completed in 2012. It can be found in a building that dates back to the 19th century.

It’s a historic building so the designer had to keep that in mind when remodeling the apartment. It’s why every little detail had to be carefully chosen. The final result had to be a harmonious blend between the original features with their classical flair and the modern additions. Even though the apartment is small, it doesn’t look tiny from the inside. In fact, it’s spacious and airy and this is also due to the décor.

The interior designer managed to incorporate lots of storage space that is carefully hidden out of sight. It’s a detail that allows the rooms to remain airy and clutter-free, thus appearing to be more spacious. In the living room, for example, the furniture is a mix of classical and gothic elements. The chandelier is a beautiful focal point while the wooden flooring adds texture and warmth to the décor.

The kitchen features a décor based on shades of grey and silver and has a more futuristic look. Small red accents here and there break the monotony. The pendant light is simple but it’s also eye-catching. The bathroom features the same chromatic palette as the kitchen. It has dark grey tiled flooring and touches of blue and red. Overall, the apartment is stylish and manages to combine styles beautifully. The classical, gothic and modern elements and nicely balanced and the result is a cohesive and harmonious décor.
