Lime Slice Table by Carl Chaffee

I don’t know why I have a thing for unusual stuff, no matter what that is. It gives me a better idea of the owner’s personality than all the “fashionable” things that only tell me that the guy having it likes to copy other people’s style. Any way, looking for a small unique coffee table I found this amazing lime slice table that was designed by Carl Chaffee. I liked it from the very first sight, as it looked just like the old lime slices jellos I used to eat when I was a kid. The resembles is all the more accurate as the table top is made of a resin that imitates perfectly the look of a lime slice.

Rock Candy by Thomas Wold

It’s not that easy to design furniture, but designing kids furniture is even more difficult. The furniture designed for the children must be both attractive for them and also functional. You must use bright colors in order to make them love it, but at the same time do not use more than three colors, as this will distract them and make them tired without an apparent reason. Designers know that they must also respect the size to be perfect for kids, so they stay away from big pieces of furniture. Such an imaginative designer is Thomas Wold who has just finished working on Rock Candy project. This is a big cabinet that the kids can use for storing their books, toys, crayons and whatever they use every day.

Kids are such a joy, but they also make your life a lot more complicated than it used to be. Well, you have to consider their needs and perspectives every time you make a purchase and you must also consider if they like the thing or not. For example every piece of furniture for their room needs to fit their size, so think about that. For example when you want to buy a clothes rack for the kids room you should choose a special one, like this one from P’kolino. It is perfect for kids because it is small,. so they can reach the top of it while standing, it is made of wood and has rounded edges, so they do not risk getting hurt while hanging clothes in it.

This nice looking wooden rack from P’kolino is made especially for children and its most important feature is safety. It looks like a stylized tree with many bigger and smaller branches the children will use for hanging their coats. The price of this piece of furniture may vary a bit, depending on the online store that sells it, so you can purchase it for a sum between $50 and 100 if you follow these links: Bizrate, Nextag, Baby crib station, Bakati and Maxbaby. As you can see from the pictures they are available in different colors.

Aina nesting tables by Elisa Honkanen

Nesting tables are a perfect choice for the kids room because they are made of wood and are marvelously simple and they use interlocking wooden bars for keeping them together. They are safe for the kids because they have no metal that could harm the kids and the wood they are made of is soft and lightweight so the kids are perfectly safe when using these tables.

But the most important feature of nesting tables and the one that gives their name is the possibility to “nest” them, that is to place the smaller one under the bigger one and do that with more tables, stacking them and storing them in a small place. So they can be stored anywhere saving a lot of space, which can be a blessing in a kindergarten or in the children’ s room.

These simple and practical little tables are designed by a Finish furniture designer called Elisa Honkanen and she proves to be a very imaginative lady that combines usefulness with simplicity and good looks.
