Tired of your Headboard? Creative Alternatives for your Bedroom

Are you tired of your bedroom headboard? If yes, you don’t have to go to the furniture stores looking for headboards as they are usually on the high side and more so, there is minimal chance of you getting exactly the type of headboard that will reflect your personal style. There are lots of creative alternatives open for you to change your headboard into something very unique and usher in a new look into your bedroom. Instead of the boring and traditional headboards, you can opt for the following designs. Whether you are wanting to optimize your dull wall behind your bed, or you come up with creative DIY options, here are some ideas you may not have considered.

Whimsical Chalkboard:

Try adding a chalkboard wall as your headboard

This is an amazing headboard project that is simple to build although, it needs some special materials like black paint for the chalkboard design, dustless chalk and a smooth and well-sanded cutout wood. It gives you the opportunity to update your ‘status’ on the board on daily basis. There is no better way to show how you feel on every given day through written words and drawings on the chalkboard that serves as your headboard.

The Bon Restaurant, An Attempt To Save The History of Bucharest

Old and historic buildings are regarded as precious treasures and usually great efforts are put into restoring and preserving them. However, the past few years have been rather disappointing in the case of Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Bucharest is a city of contrasts. Here you can find the historic center where time seems to have stopped and just a few meters away you can see modern buildings. But many historic buildings have been demolished to make room for new structures.

This disrespect for history has led architect Cristian Corvin to create the Bon restaurant. The restaurant is a symbolic response to everything that’s been happening lately with all the old buildings that no longer exist. You might wonder how a new restaurant can be a symbol for something old. Well, the architect has found a very clever solution for that.

Opening Up Your Interiors with Inspiring Mirrors

If you have constantly been on the look out for cost-effective ways of achieving instant transformation in your home, try hanging a mirror. Since mirrors are known to have reflection power, they make your space look visually larger than it really is and also bring in more natural light and added ambiance. You can create more impact by hanging them in multiples in your front entry, foyer, hallway, bathroom and dining room. If you are an advocate of frugal living, then the tips below will help you to open up your interiors with mirror inspiration.

Mirrors in the Bathroom:

You can just begin to imagine the sheer beauty of having mirrors all round the upper walls of your bathroom. If the bathroom is small, the mirrors will reflect the light in the bathroom, pick up the various colors and patterns and make the bathroom look larger. Instead of one large mirror, you can add more drama by opting for a collection of mirrors creatively arranged.

A charming cottage with a fairy tale-like décor

There are some stories and tales that everyone knows and that have become strong elements of comparison. Well, when I look at this house, all I can see is a fairy-tale home. The window in the living room with its arched design and the way it stays open remind me of Show White and how she cleaned the house of the seven dwarves with the help of her furry friends.

It’s not just the window. This whole place looks charming and timeless. The burning fireplace makes the room feel extremely cozy and inviting. The whole décor is simple but it’s also charming and elegant. The space seems very clean and fresh, despite the neutral colors.

Merging Masculine & Feminine Decor with Dignity…and Delight

There’s something to be said for the comfort, elegance, and stability of a space that balances masculine with feminine elements. Few of us would be comfortable for extended periods of time in an all-wood-and-leather mancave (even if you are a man!). Likewise, I can’t think of many people who would happily spend their days and nights in a flourishing floral-and-lace doily of a space…and I’m a girl myself. In a nutshell, it’s important for most spaces to incorporate elements of both sides to create a grounded yet un-heavy space. Here are some excellent examples of feminine-masculine balance in home décor:

Large, Airy Bedroom.

A natural, textural rug beneath a faded one, an overall neutral color palette of greys and browns, industrial pendant light, and a substantive wood-grain side table (dresser) all combine to bring a masculine feel to this vaulted ceiling’d bedroom. Fortunately, some feminine touches are incorporated in the form of taffeta drapes, a curvy bed frame and headboard, and small gold touches like the round frames and reading lamp base. Lush green velvet throw pillows are a perfect blend in and of themselves. This is a lovely space, both grounded and serene.

Commanding a Presence: Dark Accent Walls that Make a Statement

Adding drama and sophistication to your interiors can often be a challenge.  Whether you are trying to determine the best way to execute a color scheme or you want a bold look that is different from your neighbor’s home, dark accent walls may be the answer. Accent walls can come in a variety of shades, colors, patterns and textures and dark colors always command a presence regardless of what room it is. Here are some inspirational ideas you probably haven’t considered when making a statement in your interiors.

Add drama to your interiors with dark accent walls

Choosing the right colors for your accent wall:

Look to your color palette of your room before deciding what are the best dark colors to consider. Dark chocolate browns and deep smoky gray are trending interiors colors that add a dramatic but natural tone to your room. For more organic tones consider deep hunter greens, bold burgundy or even try a midnight black for a striking contrast to your furniture. Try out a few colors on a wall and ensure you have plenty of natural light to counterbalance the deep colors. If you don’t have enough natural light your interiors will fall dark and unwelcoming.
