A Style-Fashionable Interview with Kathryn Chaplow

Q:Tell us about the moment when you decided to follow a career in the field of interior design.

My mother always encouraged our creativity and allowed me to rearrange the furniture and select paint colors in my parents split level house growing up.  After a conversation with a friend in high school, I realized that it was possible to design interiors professionally. There was no looking back.

Always… as a little girl I changed the colour of my room as often as my mother allowed it.

I was always interested in making things from my earliest days of childhood.  design only came later once i had mastered the craft of making wooden furniture and started to want to imbue the things i made with a bit more of me and my time.

Interview with Jennifer Brouwer who recommends for this winter: infuse of color

It’s Monday so it’s time for an interview. This time we have the chance to talk with Jennifer Brouwer who created over 350 interior design renovation projects from Rosedale to Oakville over the last 13 years.

Q:Were you always interested in design?

Yes, absolutely.Only in my younger years, I was unable to define it. I loved art, I was and always have been very creative. My parents thought I would be a starving artist.I see rooms spaces, complete within moments of arrival-like watching them in a commercial or video.

Then I get filled with the excitement with the opportunity to present what I see. Kinda like a design PSYCHIC J lol!!- only no magic ball.

Interview with Allison Egan

Allison Egan is another New York interior designer who use her experience with high end and custom design, combined with her own fresh design style to create beautiful interiors.Allison revealed us that for this autumn/winter season is essentially to add pops of rich color, like eggplant or emerald green and also incorporate a few metallic details, like a vase, lamp, or tray.

Q:Were you always interested in design? Tell us about the moment when you decided this is the way to go.

I always loved design. I always wanted to rearrange my room and paint the walls when when I was growing up! But actually I got into interior design while getting my master in the history of decorative arts. I love antiques, but using them in real homes and modern settings was even more inspiring to me than seeing them in a museum.

He started his professional practice in 1990 and for 20 years he is the director of his company that now is called: DIN interiorismo.The company is specialized in interior design and architecture with 20 years of experience in Mexico. All their projects are the result of the correct combination between creativity, functionality, originality, innovation and quality.

Q:Were you always interested in design?Tell us about the moment when you decided this is the way to go.

My family has always been related to the furniture industry and it is something I enjoyed while growing up and this motivated me to study interior design. At first, when I started studying, I just liked it, but as time went by, and I started my career as a professional interior designer, it became a complete passion. I enjoy very much what I do.

James De Wulf has been making and selling handmade concrete furniture for several years.He’s making concrete look sleek and modern and become known for his ability to fuse the most advanced concrete technology with beautiful, modern, and natural forms to create functional art.

Homedit: How about your background? How did you come to be a furniture designer?

James De Wulf: I stumbled into it.  My father had me groomed to get into finance but I couldn’t stay awake in the office.  I messed around with concrete a bit as a side project and fell in love with the material.  That led me into furniture.  I just follow my heart and for some reason I really really love proportion and design of dining tables.
