Twin bookshelves by Zeynep Cinisli

Normally furniture is made to be permanent and not changed ; I mean it is not dynamic. However, every once in a while some imaginative designers dare make some very original works that can be used in time, even if the conditions change. For example these twin shelves by Zeynep Cinisli actually look like a wardrobe when they are close to one another. You can store anything on the shelves inside, but once you separate the two halves of the wardrobe, you realize they are actually linked by three bookshelves that can be expanded when you have a growing book or CD collection.

Studio Wall Shelf

Wall shelf has become an important section of the storage furniture, and also a high quality decoration to the rooms. The Studio Wall Shelf allows you to move it from place to place featuring an elegant and functional system storage for a modern office. If you need more storage areas than one rectangular surface, the Wall Shelf might be for you and is available for 300$.

What I first noticed about this shelf was the fact that it was not suspended on the wall, but rather leaning on it. It looks like a ladder with wider steps that are actually the shelves. Then there are these small bits of wood that become larger and larger as the distance from the walls gets bigger and they are used to support the shelf and secure it against the wall in order to avoid accidents like falling on the side and breaking or spreading all the things on the shelf.

The shelf is black in colour and makes a nice contrast with the white wall and also offers you the possibility to display smaller things on the upper part of the shelf and larger ones down, so it ensures a great visual impact.

Matrix Storage Cube Collection is attractive, stylish and contemporary furniture for modern homes.A cube storage makes a convenient place for books, pictures, and collectibles to be displayed in.The Matrix Cubes can be arranged in any way to create a stylish, modern shelving unit or room divider. That is because these cubes are modular, coming separately and each cube is not its own, not being in any way linked or glued to the other one next to it.  Then, once you have  this out, all you have figured this out all you have to do is to place the necessary cubes in the right position on top of each other or next to each other so as to match the model.  That allows you to be creative and to make up your own models of shelves and furniture. Available in white and black for 920$. This collection of cubes is perfect for storing books, boxes, magazines, decorative items and whatever you might need to. It is a cheap and nice solution for your room.

Yin and yang bookshelf

A hose has many things inside, a lot of the things that are used for depositing other things being furniture pieces. One of them that is now almost obsolete is the bookcase. That happened because people no longer buy books and store them in their homes. As there is such a great variety of books now you can simply go to the library and borrow the book you want to read and then return it and borrow a new one. Plus, now the young generation prefers the electronic version of books – like e-books that they can read using their fashionable tablets and e-book readers. But all of us have at least a few books or at least CDs or DVDs they need to store. But you do not need a whole bookcase for this, so you’d better use a nice and modern bookshelf instead.

And if your house is modern and young and has a very minimalistic design, you can think of a special design for your bookshelf. So maybe you will like my suggestion and build yourself a bookshelf that looks like the Chinese symbol of Yin and Yang. This is the symbol of perfection and it is colored in black and white. SO I guess it will be perfect for both a man’s and a woman’s living room. Besides the nice look it will also suggest perfect harmony and knowledge.

Alphabetic Bookshelf

Designed by Kayiwa, the AAKKOSET is a beautiful storage system and a library with alphabet letters and typographical errors. It can be used for books, CDs and magazines. It is available in black, blue, red, white etc.. It is useful in more ways than you might think at first sight. Indeed, its primary purpose is to store things you usually place on shelves like books and magazines and even toys or decorative items, but this time this original bookshelf will help your kid get used to the letters of the alphabet.

And if you will help them practice now and then, they will soon be able to learn the letters of the alphabet in order and also associate the sound of the letter with the image. Also, if you have many books you can try and sort them each under the first letter of the name of the author, using the shelf letters as a system of categorizing the books, for example place a book written by Mark Twain in the letter “T”. Or place the other objects in the corresponding slots – D for doll or T for teddy-bear. I think there are endless possibilities for you to play with this amazing shelf.

Space Saving Reading Furniture Collection

Practical and space saving are the best words which can describe this reading furntiure collection created by Remy van Oers in association with Coolen/AttrackZ and presented at Dutch Design Week.A few weeks ago we covered a chair combined with book storage, now this collection include the Reading Chair consists of the Reading Table and the Reading Lamp. Also the lamp keeps the books that you are currently reading safe in its storage space. All three items have basically the same idea: to save space and to offer you a place to store books and also to have a great design. I admit, the idea is original and nice and it drew my attention.

You can store books or magazines in the hollow place left inside the chair, table or lamp body of these furniture pieces and they will look great and be really handy at the same time. When you sit comfortably in this chair you only need to stretch your hand and take a book from under the seat.

The Skate Bookshelves

As a mother I can tell you that the only way to make some order in your kids room is to find some things that you can use to deposit their stuff, things that look cool for them and are attractive for their age, whatever that might be. If you try to impose your decision or taste in furniture or in the room design you will find the new furniture that you like so much broken “by accident” or something similar. So take them with you when you decide what furniture to buy for their room or involve them in deciding the design of the room. For example you can suggest them this really cool Skate bookshelf that is (or at least looks like) made of skateboards and that will be used for storing books.

These modern and funny bookshelves are made of three skateboards horizontally and three vertically that intertwine each other with the help of some tiny canals carved in the wood. It’s fun and very useful, too, as these shelves can be used for all the books and magazines your kids spread all over the place. You can do that for real, from old skateboards, but you’d better find a specialist that will be able to use some wooden boards to obtain some components that only looks like skateboards. You can keep the original skateboard design or you can paint the whole furniture with only one color, preferably black or brown and then apply a layer of transparent lacquer. I guess these shelves are very good for both books and DVDs or CDs and can be just what your boy wants in his room.
