Out of all the rooms in the house, I find the bedroom to be the one that’s the most fun to decorate. That’s because this room has to be simple but it also has to be stylish. You have to find the perfect balance between these concepts and to find a way to make the room stand out without disturbing the harmony.

Bedrooms need to be relaxing, quiet and inviting. There are several ways in which you can achieve that. Depending on the style, you can either use a warm color palette or opt for minimalism and brightness. As everything evolves, the need for efficient designs becomes more apparent. Designers and architects are constantly exploring new possibilities in terms of materials that can help them build energy-efficient homes. It’s why we see all sorts of unusual designs, like recycled container homes or underground structures. Straw bale homes are also an interesting alternative to take into consideration.

Let’s take, for example, this lovely cottage. It can be found in Finland and it was built in a summer to serve as a getaway. It’s a small space with a shabby chic interior lit by candles. It might not be very spacious or fancy but it’s very relaxing. It was built little by little, with the help of friends and neighbors. The little cottage was built with sand, rocks, salvages wood, straw bales and other natural materials. It has cob walls and the exterior is plastered.

Houses are no longer how they used to be. They’re not all the same, with the same shape and structure and with no identity of their own. These days people try to make their homes stand out and for that they sometimes make unusual choices. For example, we’ve found a few houses that share the same unique particularity. There are lots of style options to explore and choose from when designing a home. But some are more suitable than others in the case of certain areas of the house. For example, in the case of the kitchen, a modern or contemporary design would be the best. It’s always best to keep up with the technological improvements and changes and in order to do that without obtaining a décor where styles clash is to keep up with the styles as well.

A modern kitchen, whether it’s part of an open plan or if it’s a separate area, would usually have a simple and clean décor. The furniture would have simple lines without unnecessary ornaments or decorative details. Also, special attention is usually given to the way the space is used and organized. It’s why modern kitchens have lots of storage space, most often hidden in unexpected places.
