Black iron grill cabinet

This special cabinet is called “voliera” and since I have traveled a few times around Italy it happens to know that “vogliera” is cage for birds, usually parrots are being held in these types of cages. The iron grill is being mixed with glass and its main goal is to showcase items, highlighting their true value and not trapping them inside like some prisoners.

There isn’t much to say about this first of a series of different sized cabinets that are already in Celestino’s plan except that is meant to express the designer’s view over a very common thing. These items were first presented at Salone Satelite 2012 in Milan and I don’t know exactly their degree of appreciation because many people don’t look at this cabinet as they would suppose to. I don’t blame them because on the other side this cabinet looks exactly like a bird’s cage with food trays and so on.

Despite that Cristina Celestino still sees this as a perfect room divider that offers and maintains transparency in the environment while displaying artistic items that are suppose to fill that space with their character and charm. I don’t see myself buying one of these cabinets because they don’t fit in my interior and don’t inspire me. I am not here to judge, for some this might be the piece they were looking for but for those   pragmatic types Voliera doesn’t mean that much.
