Bejewel Your Home With Beautiful Decorative Hardware

Just as jewelry is the finishing touch to a woman’s outfit, door knobs and other decorative hardware are the bling that can bring your home’s decor from fine to fantastic. While the local home store has plenty of serviceable options, choosing special cabinet hardware and stylish new features for your doors and drawers can make a real difference. At ICFF 2016, we saw many options that were artistic and amazing. Take your pick at some of the most beautiful ornaments and exquisite door hardware and find the inspiration you need for a stunning and personalized home decor.

One of our favorites is Handle the Art. Designer and owner Gail Folwell is a contemporary monument bronze artist and each of her pulls and handles are small sculptural masterpieces. Her inspiration comes from the human figure.

These are "Adam" and "Eve" door pulls. Folwell has created pieces that are in private collections nationwide, including the Denver Art Museum, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Vail Resorts and Silver Oak Cellars.

A wide selection of cool modern decorative hardware is available through FSB — Franz Schneider Brakel. The company’s descriptor “Getting a grip on architecture: It’s in your hands” is a creative way to stress that their hardware is architecturally design forward, and “architecture meets ‘handle culture.’”

Branches and organic forms populate the collection of Philip Watts Design, a design and build team that works out of Nottingham, UK.  In a 2015 interview, Watts noted that “door handles are an overlooked interior object. People often forget to spend time looking at them…Spanish Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi once said ‘God is in the detail,” and he was right. It is for me: it;s all about the details.”

The large Branch door handle is truly a work of art. It is made of aluminum that is hand-cast from a real tree branch. On the right is his Plank handle, which looks like natural piece of wood.

This sampling of designer decorative hardware is a far cry from what you’ll find in the average home store and for good reason:  Just like jewelry, the difference between costume jewelry and fine gems and precious metals makes all the difference in the world. It’s more of an investment, but carefully chosen hardware can make a serious difference in the look of your room.
