What was once an auto-body shop became an example of style in one of Toronto’s neighbourhoods. In collaboration with Levitt Goodman Architects, the clients, graphic and furniture designers, have come up with an amazing house.
Presenting features like floor heating, on demand hot water, a lot of large windows and skylights, the Adams Fleming House is a stunning property. Amongst the private areas of the house the owners have added a second floor, that houses a large open studio for work and musical jam sessions. What’s more their roof is being prepared to become a roof garden.
Furthermore the architects gave some personality to the house with a wall covered with panels of steel found on the site, which the clients then rusted and waxed red. Another customized feature is the bathtub, which was custom-fitted to the wife’s proportions.
With a lavish garden, that is a mismatch of styles, and a house as modern as this one, the property is a wonderful retreat in contrast to the cottages in Toronto’s west end.
