This is the house of architect Jay Behr Design and Ewald Tajbaksh Architecture. It’s located in Sausalito and it has views of Alcatraz and the San Francisco Bay. The house covers an area of 3,400 square feet. It’s a large home and it seems even more expansive because of the open floor plan. It has four bedrooms and spacious social areas but the most impressive are, of course, the views. It was a very important factor when choosing the location.
Inside, the residence features an open floor plan and, on the main floor, there are also high ceilings that further contribute to the overall impressive look. In order to take advantage of the views, the architect decided to go with glass walls for the great room and for the bedrooms. This allows the users to enjoy the wonderful and expansive views while chatting or simply relaxing in the living room or in the private bedrooms. The glass also gives the impression that the house is floating above the canyon.
The glass walls and the large windows, besides allowing panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding landscape, also let in lots of natural light and reduce the need for artificial lighting during the day. The living room is particularly bright and cozy. It has a vertical fireplace that gives it character and that further extends to all three levels.
The whole house is made of glass and concrete. It has a modern design, minimalist architectural details and wonderful views that can also be admired from the landscaped terraces. It has been completed in 2010 and ever since 2011 it has been on the market for $2.95 million.
