Another Church Converted Into A Beautiful House

Few months ago we have covered four Churches turned into beautiful homes. This is the Cottekill Church and House. We don’t usually find such combinations. It’s usually one or the other. Not a lot of people would like to actually live in a church. However, in this case it’s not a conventional church. In fact, this building currently belongs to Potter Ayumi Horie. She bought the place ten years ago when it was a simple church.

The building is located in Hudson Valley. The new owner decided to renovate it. She also decided to live in it. As a result, it became part church and part home. She even included a studio in there. Ayumi Horie decided to sell the place. The church, house and studio can be a great retreat and inspiring work space for artists. The building also has the potential of being renovated and transformed. It has a unique history and the potential of becoming even more than it is now.

Ayumi hopes that the new owners will decide to continue creating art. The project she created and developed is unique. It shows us that a church can be so much more than we think. In fact, I think we can all agree that it lost most of its original intention. It was turned into something more personal. It’s a place where art and spirituality are combined and some people seek exactly that. Unless the building will be completely destroyed, it will still have a portion of its original charm and history.
