An oasis for a family of four, constructed in a small square level plot

This building is the happy home of a family of four. It’s located in Kifisia, a suburb of Athens, Greece and it covers an area of 350 square meters. It was designed by N. Koukourakis & Associates and it sits on a small and almost square-shaped plot. The house has a simple design. The entrance is on the left side of the building. When you enter you immediately notice how airy is the décor. The idea was to create a series of open spaces that would allow the creation of a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The small plot was what triggered this idea.

Inside, a stone structure separates the common areas from the secluded spaces. This way privacy is achieved. On the ground floor you can find the welcoming spaces such as the foyer, the sitting room, the rest room, the dining room and the kitchen. They all have large windows that allow natural light to get through and to also open up the space towards the exterior. In the living room there’s a double level opening that connects the public and the private rooms.

The first floor houses the living room, the office and the children’s bedrooms. The bedrooms also have balconies with transparent glass. On the second floor is located the master bedroom and a large veranda. These spaces benefit from panoramic views of the surroundings. The house also has a basement level that serves as a guest room.
