An apartment with a living room hidden under the bed[video]

Everyone likes a big home but if we all had one there wouldn’t be much free space left. We’re in a continuous expansion and this means there’s constantly less space we can use. But instead of thinking that way, a more constructive idea would be to try to use the space we have in a more functional and efficient way. Several solutions for that have already been found but one of them stands out.

It’s called the YO! Home and it’s the name of the studio that came up with this ingenious and revolutionary idea. The plan was to rethink the urban apartment and to completely reorganize it and find new ways of using the internal space. The result was the YO! Home apartment, based on a completely new concept. The idea was to create additional space by hiding some of the rooms when not in use.

There are multiple examples of how we can save space in this apartment but the most dramatic of all is the master bedroom. It features a large platform bed that rises into the ceiling and reveals a living room beneath. In here we basically have two rooms in one and it’s major space-saving example. YO! Home attempts to create an 80-square meter apartment with 4 80 square meter rooms: a sitting room, a bedroom, a kitchen/dining room and office as well as two cinemas and a separate guest room/study.
