Amazing Pirate Ship Bedroom Design by Steve Kuhl

The pirate ship is a recurrent theme in a lot of interior designs for children. This symbol can be adapted to the décor and the available space in a variety of ways but usually this whole concept relies on decals and small decorations. Designer Steve Kuhl, however, decided to take the concept to a new level when he designed this extremely cool bedroom for a six-year old.

The main feature is a floating pirate ship which the designer created using plywood and wood planks. A mixture of plaster and epoxy with the right coloring was then used to simulate an old ship’s hull in order to this this magnificent feature an authentic look.

The ship is connected to the top of a jail cell via a rope bridge. A hidden spiral slide offers a different and more fun way to get down.

The side of the hull is decorated with cannon ports that also serve as tiny windows through which to spy the others downstairs.

Inside the pirate ship, the space is cozy and fun, decorated with an ornate steering wheel, ropes and plenty of other interesting features. The ceiling was painted to look like the sky. A rope descends through a secret doorway into the closet below providing the kids with a secret passage downstairs for a quick wardrobe change.
