A small flat with a difficult layout and great decorating solutions

Small apartments and homes in general have to deal with the very serious problem of having a very limited floor space to work with when decorating. This means that you don’t always get to choose the furniture you would like for your home because of the lack of space. But, in addition to this problem, sometimes small apartments also present another difficulty, that of featuring difficult angles to work with.

This tiny flat, for example, measures a surface of only 40 square meters. That alone is an important problem to deal with when choosing furniture and decorations. But there’s also something else that makes this apartment difficult to decorate. It’s the fact that it presents some very difficult angles such as the portion of the wall separating the living room and kitchen. It’s a small space that partially divides these areas. It doesn’t separate them completely and, besides that, it’s also a portion quite difficult to furnish.

A clever and quite simple solution was found for this problem. A small table was placed against the wall and it’s a very nice work area. It also has a mirror hanging above it, a simple and functional decoration that also tends to create the impression of a larger space, thus making the apartment feel more airy and less cluttered. The apartment present several other similar decorating difficulties and situations and for each one of them a simple and clever solution was found.

For example, the kitchen is quite small but, in order to take advantage of all the space available, the walls have been covered with cabinets and storage units placed both on floor level and above the countertops. The appliances have been cleverly inserted in the design and have become built-in features. In the case of the bedroom, the space available was small and, in order to avoid making the room feel cluttered because of the furniture, other more untraditional storage solutions were adopted.
