A Few Ways To Add Some Green Indoors

When people used to live in improvised homes, surrounded by nature, there was no need to bring all those natural elements indoors. But today the situation is different. We often find ourselves surrounded by nothing but rigid structures that can only be described as artificial. There are exceptions, of course, but most of the times there’s a struggle to remind us all that we’re a part of nature. So what do we do? We try to bring some of its beauty indoors. The pallet was taken apartment and the pieces were used to make a nice top. But one portion was left out. This hole in the center was designed to be a planter box. If you don’t want to start projects that require much effort or time, there are other ways in which you can add green to your home. For example, you could make a wreath. Wreaths are always great and they can be made from almost anything. This one is made using succulents. You can plant small succulents in almost anything. But if you want to personalize your home’s décor, then you can work with monograms. This, for example, is a monogram planter box. You can hang it on the front door or place it on the mantel. It’s a beautiful decoration and, if you want, you can make a similar one by yourself. If you want you could make a terrarium for your beautiful plants. You would need a few supplies like a glass container, horticultural charcoal, cactus soil, plants and rocks. There will be a layer of rocks at the bottom that will allow for drainage and air circulation for the roots. Then you should add a second layer of charcoal and then one of cactus soil. Here’s a different idea for a terrarium and this time it’s one that you don’t even have to water. To make a similar one you would need closed glass vessels such as bell jars, plants, charcoal, sterilized potting mix, pebbles or gravel, stones or moss, a small rake and a shovel, pruners and a spray bottle of water. Create a base layer, add the soil and then the plants. Set the stones and close it up.{found in redbookmag}.

Miniature Tin Garden.

Miniature gardens are also a simple and fun way of adding a touch of green to your home and of bringing a little piece of nature inside. To make a miniature garden similar to this one you will need tins, scissors, a ruler, florist’s foam, dried moss, a tiny wood strip, three bamboo barbeque sticks, a low temp glue gun, sand, dried flowers, rocks, faux wood contact paper and pliers. Cut out the contact paper and attach it to the planter box. Fill it with sand and rocks. For the flower garden, cut the foam block and fit in inside the tin. Glue the foam down and cover it with moss. Cut the plants and flowers down to size and stick them into the foam.{found on designsponge}.

There are lots of different ideas to use as inspiration if you want to add some succulent freshness to your home. One of them would be to make a succulent photo frame. You will need a few scraps of chicken wire, a shadowbox-style photo frame, cactus potting soil, moss, a staple gun and gloves. Start by stapling a piece of wire that is a little larger than the frame to its inside part. Layer the moss down on the inside of the frame, right on top of the wire.
