Magic Mirrors

Since we were kids we have the concept of magic mirror. In Snow White, a story every child knows there was a talking mirror who could tell who’s the most beautiful woman in the world. Well, time passed and magic mirrors are no longer just for evil queens. The technological progress and advancements in computers and materials made possible the apparition of smart surfaces like the ones in these pictures.New types of glass are now available, glass that bends and flexes and together with revolutionary computer interfaces gave birth to smart gadgets that function like an iPad and a mirror in the same time.

Magic bathroom mirrors is probably the future because in there we have time for ourselves, brushing our teethes, wash our hands dry our hair and so on.Why don’t we turn on the television mean time? Why don’t we look at the weather forecast? Or, while looking into the mirror we can see ourselves dressed and accessorized.

L’Ancienne Poste – a charming residence in France

L’Ancienne Poste is a lovely residence located in France. Its name translates as “the old post office”. Surprisingly, it doesn’t even have a letter-box. It’s an aspect that the owner loved about this place and wanted to keep it this way. The property was purchased by the current owner in 1999. Back then it was merely a ruin. However, it had potential and the views were amazing.

After that, the building continued to be a ruin for a few more years. At one point, one architect was willing to start this project. It was a difficult and challenging project but the architect and the owner worked together and, three years later, they managed to create a restored, beautiful and charming property. They rebuilt the house and chose a traditional provencal style for the old post office. Turning the building into a home was not easy. However, the architect kept things simple and pure and created a bright, light-filled home with an inviting and stylish interior.

Boy Bedding with Dinosaurs

I don’t know what it is about dinosaurs and boys but they seem to be really good friends. My little boy has been fascinated by dinosaurs ever since he could walk and talk and now he always carries a dinosaur around by the neck or by its tail. Of course, I am talking about toys shaped like dinosaurs. Even if he knows that dinosaurs are now extinct he still wants them on his clothes and also on his bedding if possible. So I tried to find something funny and useful, too, that would satisfy both our needs. This is how I found this  Boy Bedding with Dinosaurs from Land of Nod.

Charging stations without a tangled mess of cords

Nowadays almost all the electronics that surround us need to be charged from time to time. Having the right equipment to charge them and the place for this activity can prove itself tricky sometimes. I don’t know how is it at your place, but in my house there are nights when all the electronics need to be charged and we kind of run out of outlets making the simple task of plugging in your friend’s laptop or something like that quite challenging.

A great thing that would definitely make things a lot easier would be a sliding shelf with a nice backrest to hold the phones in place. With a power extension cord and all your right chargers this idea looks more and more attractive.

How to make your own burlap peg bag

Add a personalized touch to your everyday life by creating original DIY projects. Today we’re going to show you how to make a very practical clothespin holder, a simple but indispensable item for every home. The project is very simple. All you need is a rescued coffee sack, an 8’’ section of braided binding from a sack or any other type of sturdy webbing, scissors, a pen, a ruler and a sewing machine. You can also try to hand sew it but it will take a lot of time.

After you have gathered all the supplies you need, take a burlap rectangle and fold it in half lengthwise. Then sew up each side and try to keep the fraying to a minimum. Next, box the corner and fold the bag you have created in half. Using a pen and a ruler, measure a line 2’’ across the top of each corner and stitch along the line. You’ll also have to use an iron to press the edges. Now your container is basically done. You just need to apply the final touches.

Unusual house structure in Tokyo

The ZYX House is an unusual structure located in Tokyo, Japan. It was a project developed by naf architect and design. The house has an unusual shape and an odd design but the idea behind it is very simple. The owner is a single woman who used to live in an apartment that belonged to her grandmother. At one point she decided to build her own house but there were many things to consider before starting designing the place.

The owner needed a space of her own where she could really feel like in her own home. But her grandmother’s house was very old and needed to be rebuilt anyway so, instead of doing that, she decided to bring her grandma with her and to offer her a new home. There was also one more thing to take into consideration. The owner also had family living in other cities and she wanted to be able to offer them a place to stay while they were visiting. With all these things in mind, the design needed to have three separate volumes.

Wood Whale

I lost my phone. Again. I am a disaster in keeping the small things in my purse and I always misplace them, then I spend half a day looking for them. That is why I thought it would be helpful to have a nice office device that would hold the small items for me in plain sight and also all together in one place. This is the Wood Whale. It is a kind of office storing item that can hold all your pencils and pens together and also some other important items. The product is a “green” item because it is made of reclaimed wood.
