8 Creative And Easy DIY Bookends

The bookends give a shelf or bookcase a more interesting look and, if they have fun designs or shapes or if they are colorful, they also stand out and can be considered decorations for the room. We’ve selected a few creative and interesting bookend designs that we want to share with you. They are simple and ingenious and you can adapt them if you want.

Gold bookends.

These bookends are made of rocks. If you want to create something similar you’ll need rocks of different shapes and sizes, hot glue sticks, glue, gold leaf adhesive and gold leaf, a hot glue gun, toothpicks, an old paint brush, soap and a toothbrush. First scrub the rocks and let them dry. Then spray paint them gold. Pick the rocks that are flat on one side and make the base for the bookend. Telephone bookends.

If you have one of those old vintage phones you can use it to make a beautiful bookend. You’ll also need a piece of thin metal, screws, paint, a drill, a hot glue gun and a drill bit. Cut off the cord of the phone and unscrew the part that you talk into. Take out the microphone and drill a centered hole. Spray paint the pieces and then position the phone onto the piece of metal. You can also use toys and figurines to make some really nice bookends. You can glue them to flat rocks or to wooden blocks and if you want you can also paint the toys and the base as well. Here’s how you can give your bookends a nice new finish. Mix up some black acrylic paint with some water and paint the glaze onto the bookends. Then wipe it off. You can layer on the glaze until you get the look you want. This will give the bookends a nice industrial look.{found on lori1010}.

This is another extremely simple project. It’s basically a book end made from a brick. Just take the brick and wrap it with a piece of scrapbook paper. It’s extremely simple. To make bookends like the one in these photos you’ll need a sheet of plywood, screws, a drill, a jigway, paint and spray polyurethane. You can choose the size you want. Cut the sheet to make rectangular pieces. Sand them down and paint the pieces. Then put the pieces together. You can personalize them and paint all sorts of things on them. Concrete.

If you want a rally sturdy bookend then you could make a concrete one. Find a container that you can use and then fill it with concrete. You can coat the inside with some oil so you don’t have to break the container. Let it dry and then remove it. Another very nice idea is to make bookends out of rocks. You just need some large rocks, metallic gold spray paint, small cork adhesive pads and some free time.
