2400 Square Zig Zag House by David Coleman Architecture
This compact but modern and elegant house is located in Yarrow Point, Washington, USA. It was a project developed by David Coleman Architecture and it’s a house measuring 2400 sq. feet. It has a compact but intriguing design and its most interesting and surprising features is the fact that it’s been built as a concentration of edges and intersections.
Rather than being disturbing and unpractical design, this is actually a very functional choice. Most of the rooms have openings to the exterior and this allows the users to benefit from more privacy and to have a feeling of independence towards the rest of the house. There’s a garden walls that acts as a barrier, defining the public and private areas of the house. The other rooms are cleverly divided. The great room wing is located to the south while the bedroom wing is on the north.
There’s also a music room, a food-prep and eating space, as well as a sitting room. Overall, the house has a compact but functional design. In terms of interior design, it’s a modern house, simple and elegant.
Among the materials used in the construction and decoration we can mention stucco siding, a polycarbonate glazing system, aluminum windows, doors & hardware, polished blackened concrete floors (main level), medium density fiberboard floors (upper level), blackened steel structural members, steel plate and perforated metal stair and railing panels, and birch cabinets.
