10 Private, tranquil and spectacular garden shed offices

If you were to picture the perfect home office it probably wouldn’t be a tiny space in the corner of your bedroom or living room nor a repurposed closet. Those are still fine solutions but only when you don’t have enough space for a real office. So how about a garden shed office? It would be private, without people always passing by distracting you, it would be spacious and you would also get to design it exactly how you want. Here are a few examples of some really spectacular garden shed offices.

Shed-Office= Shoffice.

Fores studio

Let’s start with the Shoffice. Its name is a combination between shed and office. It was designed by Platform 5 Architects in 2012 and it can be found in Westminster, London, UK. The Shoffice is a garden pavilion that was added to a 1950’s house and it features a bold contemporary design. It has a sculptural look and it contains an office alongside garden storage space.

The structure was designed as a timber elliptical shell with two skylights and a transparent glass wall. It’s a lightweight structure built with two steel ring beams, timber ribs and a stressed plywood exterior.{pics by Alan Williams Photography}.

Backyard Egg.

We continue with another unusual structure featuring a different kind of shell. It’s also a sort of office but its design was inspired by an egg. The structure was designed and built by Belgium-based architectural design studio dmvA. The result was an egg-shaped structure meant to function as a mobile office.

Even though it’s small, the office is neatly organized and contains everything one needs to feel comfortable, including a kitchen area, a bathroom, lots of storage and even a bed. Since it’s so small and compact, the structure can be easily transported and moved from place to place.

Tetra shed.

The next project we’ve chosen is the Tetra Shed and it’s a very interestingly-designed garden office. It was a project by Innovation Imperative and it’s a modular structure that was built using modern methods of construction.

The materials they used include engineered timber clad with matte black rubber and lined with birch faced plywood. This design can also feature other colors and finishes so it’s a customizable creation. The resulting office is small, with a footprint of 10 square meters and an internal floor area of 8 square meters. It’s enough for two people to use it comfortably.{found on archdaily}.

Archipod.

Fores studio

The Archipod is another unique and original garden office. The concept behind this project was focused on the idea that a garden building should have a design that allows it to become a part of the landscape and to seamlessly integrate into that environment.

It’s why this office was designed as sphere with an organic shape and color. It was prefabricated in sections and its interior is equipped with power outlets, data ports, electric heat and natural light and ventilation systems. The roof dome actually provides lots of natural light. The office might look tiny when seen from the outside but it is in fact more spacious than it seems.

7.5 square meter garden or office pod.

Here’s a relatively similar concept. This is the Polyhedron and it’s a unique garden office that was designed and built by architect Manuel Villa in collaboration with architect Alberto González. It’s a structure that can be found in the backyard of a family home from Bogota, Columbia.

It has a matte black exterior, a roof dome that provides natural light and tiny square-shaped windows on the sides. Inside, there’s a built-in banquet, a desk, a small cupboards and lots of additional storage on the shelves. Moreover, the entrance wall becomes a terrace and reveals a large glass wall.{images from sergio}.

Office Backyard.

Fores studio

This small home office is called the OfficePOD and it’s a space dedicated to work only. It’s a structure that measures 2.1m x 2.1m and that integrates nicely into the garden. It was designed as a very secure space and it has both internal and external locks.

Even though it seems tiny, inside there’s enough space for a person to feel comfortable while working. The OfficePOD was built with high-quality and carefully-chosen materials and it gets its power from a protected connection to the house. The glass walls provide plenty of natural light while also opening the space towards the garden and making it feel more airy.

Designed studio.

Here’s another example of a beautiful and perfectly functional backyard office. It’s a modern and simple structure that was designed by in.it studios for Klor. It was built with eco-friendly materials so it’s not just beautiful but also respectful to the environment.

The choice of materials also helps it better integrate into the garden landscape. Inside, the office features LED lights and birch ply walls. It also has a green roof. The office was prefabricated and it contains a long desk with windows and storage shelves on the top area as well as a wall storage system on the opposite side.

Tree shed.

At first, this seems like a large pile of wood. But the way everything is neatly organized and the shape of the pile quickly led you to believe that there’s something else hiding there. You would be right to suspect that as this is actually an office.

If you look closely you will notice a long rectangular line on the top half of the pile. That portion actually hides the windows of the office. Found in Netherlands, this unusual structure is an artist’s recording studio. Its exterior design allows it to perfectly blend in and seamlessly integrate into the landscape.{found on site}.

Here’s another interesting garden studio, also designed by in.it.studios. It’s actually their smallest and most affordable design in this category. It has a height of only 2.5 meters and, despite its dimensions, it’s actually more spacious than you’d think. The office provides enough space inside for two people to comfortable work in. its design makes it versatile and allows it to be positioned against a wall or a fence. A great part of this office is the terrace. It’s a wonderful extension that allows one to relax a few minutes before going back inside for more work.

The last garden shed office that we’ve decided to include in this top is actually the most mysterious of all. It’s a minimalist structure with a black frame and floor-to-ceiling windows that open it towards the beautiful landscape.Inside, this structure seems quite spacious. It’s separated into two areas. One includes a desk with wall-mounted storage and black furniture and serves as a work area. The other portion is a relaxation area with a sculptural armchair and a glass coffee table. What’s very beautiful is the way this artificial creation integrates into the landscape and becomes a part of it.{found on tumblr}.
